GGP 666T - The Peacocks of Balham Car
|
After the Championship, we bought the car
from Peacocks and continued to rally it for many years until it came to an untimely end at
a Goodwood stage event in 1987, rolled into a ball. Over the years, it had been considerably modified, and by the end, sported a 1600cc engine, twin downdraught Weber carburrettors, RS front suspension (which finally cured its propensity to eat driveshafts), uprated ventilated front brakes with adjustable bias, 6in wide wheels etc. During its life, it had also been a chase car on the RAC, and acted as a service car on several Belgium stage events, where, on one occasion, despite having a roof rack loaded with spares and wheels, it was mistaken for a competitor and directed into a stage start !! Lots of happy memories. Kevin & Marilyn |
