After the Faberge Championship, I continued rallying both with Kevin in club events with the Faberge Fiesta, which we bought from Peacocks, and in Internationals, co-driving for other drivers. In 1980, 1981 and 1982 entered the Welsh, Scottish and RAC rallies with Bob Head, as well as some other events, notably the Galway and West Cork rallies in Ireland. From 1983 to 1985, I switched my attention to Belgium events with Keith Lay, entering the Tour of Ypres as well as several other events in Belgium. !987 saw the unfortunate demise of the Fiesta, Kevin writing it off at Goodwood in a single venue stage event our daughter, Karen, co-driving ! After that we did a few club events in various cars, but that year saw the virtual end of my rallying activities. In 1990, moved to Swindon, and took up another sport in earnest golf, which we had played over the years, but never seriously. Left British Telecom with a nice pension deal, and took up a new career as a "layabout". Became a single figure golf handicapper and, in 1994, took over as Lady Captain of Swindon (now Ogbourne Downs) Golf Club. In the following year, selected to play golf for the county (Wiltshire). Moved to Tiverton in Devon in 1997, renting a house whilst we looked for a more permanent home. Finally settled in Black Torrington, North Devon, in Feb 1998, where we still live today. Still married to Kevin (30 years and counting !) and now have 2 grandchildren (a girl of 7 and a 10 month old baby boy) How old does that make you feel ! Still playing golf and doing a bit of horse riding. Motorsport now confined to watching the Grand Prix from the comfort of the armchair ! Marilyn (Maz) |
